Taste the Tweed prepares dinner
TASTE the Tweed food festival is fast approaching and organisers are putting the final touches to an almighty street feast in Murwillumbah.
Festival organiser Kerry Turner said the event was a chance to showcase the best produce the Tweed has to offer while supporting the region's farmers.
"Taste the Tweed will be a platform for everything about the food industry,” Ms Turner said.
"We grow the best food in Australia here and there's so much diversity in the food we pick.
"We hope to shine a light on the food coming out of the Tweed.”
This year the festival is partnering with Destination Tweed to turn Murwillumbah into a one-stop shop for the very best Tweed produce.
Destination Tweed CEO Bill Tatchell said the festival was a chance to encourage tourists to learn more about the Tweed's food industry.
"It allows us to get more visitors to the region and given food tourism is on trend, and shows no sign of abetting, it would be remiss if we didn't look at this as an opportunity to grow tourism in the Tweed,” Mr Tatchell said.
Ms Turner said visitors would have a chance to taste food from local restaurants in a progressive dinner setting.
The first event is on Wharf St, Murwillumbah on September 30 from 6-11pm.
