Taxed Haven

HAVEN star Lucas Bryant talks about the second series of the supernatural drama, the introduction of 90210 star Jason Priestley to the cast and his feelings on the sci-fi genre. Based on Stephen King's novel The Colorado Kid, Haven follows FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) as she investigates the strange happenings in the small town of Haven.

So when Audrey gets a new love interest this season, would you say that

character is kind of your rival?

Yes, I would say so. He rolls into town thinking he's Mr Big Shot and he runs off with the girl for a while and I'm not sure how I feel about that but we'll see who

wins in the end. Let me tell you, it won't be him! The real guy (Jason Priestley) is a

totally cool dude and we've loved having him here and it's forced me to look at how I really feel about Audrey.

Did you know Jason previously to Haven?

I knew of him but no. I didn't know him. He's been a good addition and we've been hanging out.

What do you get up to off set?

Go out for dinner, have drinks, have more drinks…we like drinks! He'll be bringing his family here as he's got kids, so ours will be playing together.

The Chief has gone, so what does that mean for series two?

Sadness! Nathan was working for his father who was the Chief and then when he exploded at the end of the last season his world was thrown upside down. He finds out, in the last episode, that he wasn't really his real father and not everything was quite as it seemed, so now he has to decide whether he wants to take up the role of the Chief and stay in town . He decides to stay, so for me, this season is discovering who I am and and discovering all the things my father kept hidden from me. It's a coming of age story for me.

And the animosity between you and Duke? Is there more of that in series two?

There's a lot more of that in season two. We have episodes where we seem to get along and work together, cooperate and help each other and then the next episode there it is again - and we're back on bad terms. We learned a little bit about it at the end of the last season. We started getting to see how close their relationship was and there's a lot in the first few episodes in this new season where we see how they care for each other but can't be cool with each other.

Are you a big sci-fi fan?

Not particularly, but if this is sci-fi, then yeah. I like stories where there is more going on than what you see on the surface and the large mythologies of the place.
