Taxi fails to attract patronage

THE early morning TaxiLink service from Kingscliff south along the Tweed Coast has been discontinued due to poor patronage.

Tweed Shire Council has operated the TaxiLink service since November 2010.

The taxi service was implemented in co-operation with Tweed taxi companies to complement Gold Coast City Council’s NightLink bus service, which runs between Coolangatta and Kingscliff.

Tweed Shire Council officers are investigating additional pick-ups and drop-offs within the Tweed region for the NightLink bus service.

The NightLink bus and TaxiLink service were provided to address a shortage of public transport into New South Wales in the early hours at weekends and public holidays.

The N978 bus service runs hourly between 1.15 and 4.15am every Saturday and Sunday.

The bus is funded by Gold Coast City Council in partnership with TransLink and Surfside Buslines.
