Teaching the elderly about healthy eating

HER mum's health condition has made former Masterchef contestant Jules Allen passionate about teaching the elderly about healthy eating.

Ms Allen will host a cooking workshop at Serene Living retirement apartments in Tweed Heads during Seniors Week.

"Three months ago my mum was diagnosed with quite aggressive Parkinson's," Ms Allen said.

She said it was a stark reminder of how society might be forgetting to take care of the seniors.

Ms Allen said encouraging changes in the eating habits of seniors was a challenge - but a rewarding one. "I think there's a (wrong) assumption they're going to have to start drinking green smoothies," she said.

The workshop is from 11am-2pm, March 19. For bookings, call 07 5536 6820.
