Teams set to fight for win
A DESPERATE derby between Murwillumbah and Redbacks will light up the Barrie Smith Hockey grounds on Saturday night.
The only JH Williams Premier League game played in Murwillumbah this round will be a torrid encounter, with both sides looking for a breakthrough win.
Both teams have struggled so far in the competition to find their feet, so it should be a good game.
Goalkeepers for both teams, Redbacks' Cameron Barnes and Murwillumbah's Shaun Wedd, have been outstanding over the weeks and have been the backbone of their teams.
Murwillumbah will be hoping for a fresh start after the break and will call on their strikers Michael Hall and Brendan Iwanuscha to hit their straps and produce the goods up front.
Redbacks will rely on young Oliver Crane to be on target for their side.
Play hits off at 8.05pm.
Meanwhile, two other Tweed teams will be in action in Ballina.
Kingscliff travels south to take on the home side from 3.25pm in an evenly-matched game.
Kingscliff coach Andrew Kirby will need his team to combine well.
About three hours later, Bobcats take on Coraki in Ballina in what will be a great contest, with plenty of skilful play from both sides.
Both these teams have stamped their authority on the competition and Bobcats' player-coach Tim Willis will be hoping for a solid game all round from his side.
In the round's other clash, East Lismore and Northern Star will meet at 4.20pm in Lismore.
