Teddies bear up for big surprise

IF you went down to Bilambil on Thursday, you were in for a big surprise.

Bilambil State School chose this day to have a teddy bears' picnic.

Excited students from Kindergarten through to Year 2 were invited to bring their favourite teddy bear or soft toy to school for a day of fun.

A school spokeswoman said the teddy bears were rejoicing at the news they were not going to be left at home when their owners went to school on Thursday.

“The much-loved teddies – the large, small, new and the well-worn – joined the students in teddy-themed activities in the classroom,” the spokeswoman said.

“They were read teddy bear stories in the library and shown off in a parade with their owners.

“The teddies then joined parents, grandparents, teachers and students for a picnic lunch with their owners and a life-sized teddy made a surprise visit.”
