Tee-off for helicopter rescuers

THE Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter will chop it up at the Tweed Coolangatta Golf Club next month as golfers and amateurs combine in the spirit of charity.

Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters general manager Kris Beavis has applauded the response from the community ahead of the event.

“These events are vitally important for raising funds for our service and would not be possible without the support from our sponsors,” Mr Beavis said.

Lauren Busse, media and marketing officer for the rescue chopper, said it was hoped to raise $10,000 on the day.

This will be the first time that the helicopter has held a golf fundraiser in the Tweed region, and the Tweed Daily News is right behind the event as an official sponsor of the service.

Golfers can register for the four-person Ambrose competition for $60 per person or $200 per team of four.

A sausage sizzle is also included in the price.

The official 18-hole competition will tee off at 12.30pm on March 18.

Extra prizes will also be up for grabs on the day.
