Teen dies after car in police chase hits ute

A TEENAGER is dead and another remains in hospital under guard following a police chase through Sydney's northern beaches earlier this week.

Police were tailing a stolen car through Frenchs Forest when it crashed with a ute early Wednesday.

The 19-year-old passenger of the ute was taken to hospital where he died late Thursday night.

His driver was treated for minor injuries.

The 18-year-old driver of the stolen car was charged over two outstanding warrants and will be taken into custody when he is released from hospital.

A critical police investigation is under way.
