Teen who broke ankle running on soft sand flown off Fraser

A TEENAGER who was running on soft sand when he twisted and broke his right ankle has been flown off Fraser Island.

A spokeswoman for RACQ CareFlight Rescue said the Bundaberg-based helicopter landed at Happy Valley on Wednesday evening to collect the 15 year old.

She said the Hervey Bay boy was stabilised for the flight before being taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.

The boy had been holidaying on the island with his family, the spokeswoman said.
