Teens charged on local assault

TWO teenagers have been charged in relation to an alleged affray and assault at Kingscliff.

During the early hours of last Saturday, a 17-year-old male was allegedly hit with a blunt object similar to a tyre iron, then kicked and punched during an altercation at an address in Quiggan Street.

The teenager was treated for a range of injuries, including a fractured elbow, fractured eye socket and concussion.

Tweed Byron officers commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and yesterday arrested two males, aged 15 and 16.

They were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where they were charged with affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both teenagers have been granted conditional bail to appear in Tweed Heads Children’s Court on July 12.
