Tempt your tastebuds at food fest

IF YOU have tastebuds and consume food on a daily basis then the Tastes of Gold Coast festival is for you.

For 16 days the world-class culinary delights and brilliant beverages made right here on the Gold Coast will be at your finger tips.

From September 3 experi- ence familiar favourites and mouth-watering new morsels to sink your teeth into like the guilt-free delights of Roar Foods.

Roar Foods is an organic catering and cooking class business based in Miami which will be running workshops during the festival on how to cook desserts that contain no sugar or animal products but don’t scrimp on taste.

Owners Suki and Brendan Jones research their recipes heavily to find new ingredients to make raw foods yummy.

“When we started Roar Foods people said we couldn’t do organic food successfully and ethically but here we are,” Ms Jones said, holding a platter of sweets including chocolate and beetroot cake.

“No one would think this stuff would even go together, but cooking with raw foods is delicious and filling.”

The Tastes of Gold Coast festival is aimed at familiarising Gold Coast residents with what is right under their noses.

The signature event of the festival is a celestial Full Moon Degustation at Burleigh Heads on September 12.

If a drop of local ale tickles your fancy then the beer-appreciation evening at Kirra Burger Lounge might appeal.

The Burleigh Brewing Company will put on display their finest for the event.
