Tenancy laws on display
NEW South Wales Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner Steve Griffin is encouraging Tweed residents to learn more about the state’s new residential tenancies laws.
An information stand will be at the Tweed City Shopping Centre today between 9am and 5.30pm and tomorrow between 9am and 9pm.
The Residential Tenancies Act 2010 and the Residential Tenancies Regulation 2010 commenced on January 31 and include more than 100 changes.
“NSW Fair Trading has been conducting a statewide information campaign on the new laws,” Mr Griffin said.
“This is the biggest change to the state’s residential tenancy laws in more than 20 years and represents greater clarity and certainty in the legislation for tenants, landlords and real estate agents.”
Mr Griffin said the new laws were relevant to most people at some point in their lives, and encouraged people to learn about them.
