Tennis fundraiser to help sick kid's wishes come true

FORMER doubles Wimbledon champion Geoff Masters will be at Terranora Tennis Club this weekend to help make a wish to an ill child.

Masters will be joined by entertainer Jordan Jansen at the tennis club in Bilambil Heights where Make-a-Wish Australia Gold Coast branch will make an announcement on who will have their next wish granted.

The Make-a-Wish Australia announcement is part of a Family Fun Tennis Day at the club.

Fundraising coordinator Dale Mansfield said members of the charity group were excited about the charity day.

"It is the first one of the year and we have not had a tennis day as a fundraising event," Ms Mansfield said.

"We are crossing our fingers that the weather will be good."

Ms Mansfield said the idea came from the club's tennis coach whose step child was a recipient of a wish last year.

Zane went to the UK to see Arsenal play last year.

The Family Fun Tennis Day is on at the club in Marana St, between 10am and 2pm, Sunday.

The day includes tennis competitions (fastest serve, rally competition, target tennis), a sausage sizzle, raffles and live entertainment.

The Make-a-Wish recipient for this year will be announced at 1.30pm.
