10th of 10th popular for wedding
COUPLES have rushed to marry tomorrow, the 10th day of the 10th month of 2010.
Jacqui Bollard, of Murwillumbah’s Brown Betty’s Bakery, said she had heard there would be up to 14 weddings tomorrow, a huge amount even for wedding season.
“That is a lot. A real lot. I am making cakes as we speak,” she said on Thursday.
“It is unbelievable, but not surprising.
“It falls on a Sunday and Sunday is a popular day for weddings as it is.”
Ms Bollard said people were already booking November 11 next year as wedding dates.
“I think it is just the 10th of the 10th that is popular.
“Next year the 11th of the 11th of the 11th is the same thing.
“I think it is a Monday and people are booking weddings on that day.”
The Tweed Daily News found two cele- brants with weddings booked for 10am tomorrow.
“I haven’t been marriage celebrant that long and can’t give a lot of history, but I do have a ceremony on Sunday at 10am,” one said.
