THE inaugural Tweed shire business awards (BEATS) were a glamorous affair on Saturday evening.

Everyone from councillors and politicians to airline general managers were on hand at the Tweed Civic Centre.

Murwillumbah Business Chamber president Toni Zuschke said the event had been a great success.

"It was meant to be a celebration of business in the Tweed and all those motivated to push their business, and I think we achieved that, "Mrs Zuschke said.

Pole dancers entertained guests as they arrived, while two comedians entertained the crowd in-between formalities.

All canapés served featured food from Tweed and Lil Fi, of Uki, provided the backing tune for dancing well into the night.

The Daily News sponsored the customer service award which was taken out by Billabong Swim School, while solar power installers SAE Group was the overall winner.
