The Tweed welcomes the rainfall
YESTERDAY'S rain was a welcome relief from several months of dry conditions in and around the Tweed.
Good figures were recorded by local rainfall expert Clifford Clothier in Banora, 56.5 millimetres or two and a quarter inches fell from before lunch yesterday until 9am this morning.
Mr Clothier confirmed the last 12 weeks had been very dry, with only a few millimeters falling in his backyard.
"The farmers and gardeners should be happy, it has been a while since we have had a nice little dump like that," Mr. Clothier said.
Thankfully the rain did not affect Tweed roads to badly with minimal incidents reported by emergency services, drivers in the area clearly taking the conditions into account when out and about.
