Thieves steal four rifles from rural Tweed property

THIEVES have stolen guns and jewellery from a rural Tweed property near Uki.

The owner noticed the items missing on Thursday and notified police.

The firearms, which had been secured correctly inside a safe, include three .22 calibre rifles and a .222 calibre rifle.

The property is located at Terragon, near Clarrie Hall Dam.

Police have reminded firearm owners, particularly in rural areas, to ensure properties are secure and firearms are stored elsewhere if they plan to be away for extended times.
