Extreme sisters jump for joy
IT MAY have taken a few tries over the course of a few years, but nothing was going to stop 74-year-old Leola Hull from jumping out of a plane.
And she took her 73-year-old sister, Dulcie Anderson, along for the ride on Monday morning.
The pair, from New South Wales and Victoria, have been holidaying at North Kirra and were watching the team from Gold Coast Skydive para-chute on to the expansive beach.
Self-confessed thrill-seeker Leola said skydiving had long been on her to-do list.
“My family wanted to take me for my 70th birthday.
We all drove up to Wollongong, but the skydive was cancelled because of the weather,” she said.
It was a case of fourth time lucky and despite slightly overcast skies, the sisters were determined to take the dive.
Mrs Anderson said when she told her family, they didn’t believe her.
“One daughter said ‘wow’ and the other one asked me if ‘I was for real’,” she said, laughing.
“Leola’s family weren’t so surprised because they knew she had always wanted to do it.”
Leola said the experience was better than she expected and she “couldn’t wait to show her family the photos in the newspaper”.
