Tickled pink over donation
CANCER survivor Thea Harrison holds the McGrath Foundation close to her heart and is tickled pink to be able to support the breast cancer charity as store manager of Zelows Tweed City.
The Zelows chain has decided to donate $1 from every sale to the charity with a goal to raise more than $45,000.
This time last week the chain had raised over $22,000, almost half its goal.
Ms Harrison said she took her hat off to the handbags and accessories franchise for being so generous.
"It's a big thing to give away that much money," she said.
"For a family owned company, with family members working in the stores every day."
Ms Harrison was open about her own experience with cancer, celebrating 10 years clear of the disease.
"I'm a survivor, I'm one of the lucky ones but I've got two friends going through it and I lost a dear friend too," she said.
"To pay a nurse for three years is $350,000 and to train one is $45,000 so the charity needs a lot of help.
"All the money Zelows raises will go straight to the foundation, the company keeps nothing."
The McGrath Foundation was born after Jane McGrath's highly-publicised battle with breast cancer.
Over 10,000 Australian families suffering breast cancer have been supported by 63 McGrath Breast Care Nurses across Australia in the last three years.
To support the foundation, visit a Zelows store this month and make a purchase or direct donation.
