'It's time to bridge care gap'

THE New South Wales Nurses Association is inviting all Tweed residents to take part in the “Because We Care” campaign.

The association is fighting to close the aged care wages gap and have an acceptable skills mix ratio. Residents who would like to pledge their support to this campaign can sign an online petition by visiting the NSWNA website and visiting the campaign page.

The petition is urging the Productivity Commission to recognise the crisis in staffing levels in aged care facilities and health centre across the state. The Because We Care campaign body has recommended to the Federal Government that now is the time to fix aged care.

The website said the Federal Government delivered significant gains for aged care nurses and care staff in the May 2010 budget but there is still more to do.
