Tiny school proving big is not always best
WITH only 14 students, Carool Public School might not be the largest in the Tweed but what they lack in numbers they make up for in school pride.
The staff and students of Carool Public School opened their classroom doors to family, friends and the community on Thursday as part of their open day celebrations.
Principal Sophie Davies said the school wanted to commemorate the day by revealing their new school sign.
"We are so excited to have our new sign as it is modern and colourful” Ms Davies said.
"The sign will enable us to share student achievements and let the community know what is happening at our school.”
Parents, grandparents and 24 preschoolers from Bilambil Community Preschool attended the festivities, which included an assembly, games and a teddy bears' picnic.
Val Metcalfe has seen all four of her grandchildren go through Carool Public School and said it gave a great chance for students to excel at their studies.
"I've seen a Year Three student do the same work as a Year Six student and they don't get boxed-in, giving them a chance to advance a little further,” Ms Metcalfe said.
