Police treating discovery of body near Mur'bah as murder

UPDATED, 2.36pm Monday: Police have confirmed the death of a woman in Tomewin is being treated as a murder.
Tweed Byron Police crime manager Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen said a number of people were assisting police with their investigations.
Insp Cullen said a member of the public came forward on Saturday to inform police of the deceased woman.
"We attended a property at Tomewin, where we located a deceased female," Insp Cullen said.
"We then implemented a crime scene at that site."
Insp Cullen said the Tomewin Rd home, where the woman was found, remained a crime scene as investigations continue.
He said it's believed the person who notified police - and those assisting with the investigation - were residents of the house where the woman was found.
Insp Cullen said the time and cause of death were yet to be determined, with a post-mortem being undertaken today.
INITIAL report, 10.20am Monday: A crime scene was established north of Murwillumbah at the weekend after a woman's body was discovered inside a home.
Tweed police attended the scene at Tomewin about 2pm Saturday, acting on a tip-off.
It's believed the woman was aged in her 50s.
Tweed-Byron LAC officers have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
It's understood a number of people are assisting police with their inquiries.
