SPARE a thought for Skye Robertson this Mother's Day.

The expecting Tweed mum will be at the Tweed Heads' Mother's Day Memorial Service on Sunday mourning the loss of her husband, who was laid to rest at the Tweed Heads Memorial Gardens six weeks ago.

"It is a very important and special place because it's where my kids and I visit their father," she said.

Mrs Robertson has a 22-month-old daughter Harmony and is pregnant with her second baby. Her due date was yesterday.

"I could have my baby any time. Come Mother's Day I won't know if I will be in labour or not, but, if not I'll be at the memorial," she said.

"My husband was sick for about three months and we thought it was depression.

"We had no idea it was brain cancer until he went to the acute mental health ward and they found a brain cancer the size of a tennis ball.

"At the Gold Coast University Hospital they took away a third of his brain, which was meant to extend his life, but he bled out and had a stroke the next day.

"We had to turn off his life support. It was only three weeks from when we found out he had cancer.

"So I can feel for people that have gone through a sudden loss of their loved ones," she said.

Mrs Robertson believes that by sharing her story she can help others through the grieving process.

"People with similar situations, with great losses, all there under the same circumstances, are able to remember their loved ones and share their stories. It helps when you talk to other people," she said.

Lauren Morris, Family Services Manager, Tweed Heads Memorial Park said others were welcome to join the ceremony."If you are apprehensive about the poignant memories and sorrow that Mother's Day may evoke, we warmly invite you to join us on Sunday."
