A GOLD Coast toddler playing inside a garage was killed this morning.

The 18-month-old boy has died after being struck by a car at Hope Island about 9am.

Police said early investigations indicated the toddler had been playing inside the garage when a woman drove into the garage and struck the child.

The child died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
