THE National Party is playing down a decision by former Tweed mayor Joan van Lieshout to run for Federal Parliament as a Liberal Party candidate in the seat of Richmond by suggesting she has little chance.

Cr van Lieshout has confirmed that she will nominate in the seat but she must first go through pre-selction.
