Jett Kenny to find his own fame as international model

TOOWOOMBA photographer Cathy Smith works with international models on a daily basis but when she photographed Australian ironman competitor Jett Kenny she knew a star was born.

The 21-year-old lifesaver has already followed in the footsteps of his famous water sport parents and was recently signed with prestigious Australian modelling agency Vivien's Models.

Ms Smith scored the first photo shoot with Mr Kenny and the results speak for themselves.

The man is a natural and now Ms Smith's work has been credited for kicking off his modelling career.

"I saw the makings of a top-class model," she said.

"He was so down to earth and brand new. He had no idea what he was doing but he listened and took everything I said on board."

She predicted Mr Kenny would suit surf brands and urban styles.

The pair will team up for another photo shoot later this year.

Based in Toowoomba, Ms Smith specialises in model portfolios and travels across south-east Queensland to scout new talent.

"My passion is to photograph first-timers, the new models, and make them feel comfortable," she said.

This year she would like to focus on the talent here.

"I'll be working with Miss Teen Australia to get some local girls interested," she said.

"I want to offer Toowoomba people the chance to get signed with agencies. There's so many beautiful people here and a lot of them don't know how to go about it."

With her industry contacts, Ms Smith knows what modelling agencies across Australia are after.

She is happy to offer advice and start-up ideas to those in Toowoomba wanting to break into the industry.
