Top card on show
STUART Stone puts on his second fight night for 2011 at the Condong Bowls Club tonight – and it looks to be a beauty.
The veteran boxing identity and former professional fighter believes the night will be one of the best he has promoted since taking charge of the Murwil-lumbah Boxing Club in the mid-1990s.
Headlining the show is a rematch between the Stone-coached middleweight hopeful Jonathan “Crusoe” Bower and Coffs Harbour's Haj Bisler.
The constantly improving Bower defeated Bisler at Evans Head last month and will be out to make it seven straight victories after losing his debut bout.
Since their first meeting, Bisler has scored three wins so both go into the 3 x three-minute round, 75kg clash with confidence.
A solid undercard has also been matched with Murwillum-bah's Jake Simkins taking on Ballina's Joe Ward in a 57kg featherweight tussle and a heavyweight rematch between Grafton's tough and talented Corbin Robinson and the Gold Coast's Shane Wood.
Wood has trained former world number 10 Gavin Topp.
The teenage Robinson won a decision over Wood at Condong in March but the Gold Coast team was unhappy with the result.
“We have some top fights matched and if things go well, we are looking at a 15-bout card.
Bower and Bisler will be very willing, Bisler isn't coming to lose and the last time the two big boys (Robinson and Wood) fought, the crowd loved it,” said Stone.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the first fight gets under way at 7pm.
