Top prize steak on the plate

AS THE family gets ready for the weekend barbecue, Tweed Farmers Meat Co are delivering the perfect cut of beef for dinner.

Located at in Tweed City Shopping Centre, the family owned butchers has purchased a prize-winning droughtmaster hereford cross-steer beef carcase from Beaudesert.

Tweed Farmers Meat Co owner Carl Young said the carcase was the reserved champion and class winner of the most suitable carcase for hotels and restaurants at the Beaudesert Show in early September.

"It's some of the best I've seen for a long time," Mr Young said.

"We've aged it for about 15 days and all the prime steak will be excellent on the barbecue."

Originally from the Scenic Rim, Mr Young has previously entered his own cattle in the Beaudesert Show and wanted to continue to support the farmers while supplying high quality meat to the Tweed.

"We're really trying to engage the Tweed in the paddock-to-plate and engage our customers on that level," he said.

"I've always had a love for good quality beef and I ensure we get the best product every time."

Mr Young said the carcase would be used to deliver T-bone, porter house, rump, eye fillet and rib fillet, which is on sale on Saturday.
