Tourism symposium hits Tweed
SOME of Australia's leading tourism and small-business marketing experts will descend upon the Tweed on Monday and Tuesday for the 2010 Northern Rivers Tourism Symposium.
The two-day program, at Peppers Salt Resort and Spa at Salt Village, will combine presentations from industry leaders with practical hands-on workshops and panel discussions on issues relevant to regional operators.
Northern Rivers Tourism chief executive Russell Mills said booking were still being accepted.
“All of them can benefit by tapping into the Northern Rivers' $1.3 billion tourism industry,” he said.
Representatives from TotalTravel, Expedia, V3, Air Asia X and Southern Cross University's School of Tourism and Hospitality Management will open the Symposium on Monday with a discussion on how online travel reservations can boost business for small operators in destinations such as Tweed.
The symposium will also host workshops and presentations on topics including attracting more traffic online, and low-cost marketing through social media.
