Tourists loving the new Kingy Visitor Information Centre

TOURISTS were taking advantage of the new Kingscliff Visitor Information Centre before it officially opened on Tuesday morning.

Kingscliff Chamber of Commerce president Jayne Henry said the centre was made possible by community support, combined with the efforts of the chamber, Destination Tweed and council.

Ms Henry said about 20 people had already signed up to help out at the centre, which will be entirely volunteer-run.

She said the Kingscliff Chamber of Commerce would be in charge of managing volunteer rosters.

Ms Henry said council is expected to assist with painting the outside and providing signage in the near future.

"We've still got a lot to do, but we just wanted it open for Easter," she said.

"We'd like to thank council and Destination Tweed, because it's been a huge joint effort."

The Kingscliff Visitor Information Centre is expected to be open 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm.
