The eight-race card will be the first of four Murwillumbah summer meetings, with the next two on December 28 and January 4.

Trackside social activities planned for racing fans at the twilight meeting next week include the XXXX beer garden, live music by Jason Kafoa and the major prize of a Hamilton Island give-away.

Club secretary-manager Brian Charman said he was eager for the summer racing to get under way.

"This is year three of the twilight concept for us, and it follows hot on the heels of a successful Melbourne Cup day meeting, which was a ball, so we're looking at continuing that success,"he said.

The highlight of Murwillumbah's Melbourne Cup day meeting was Stand Ready, ridden by Gold Coast jockey Laura Cheshire, taking out the Ellis and Baxter Cup.

Cheshire rode a winning treble that day and finished runner-up in another two events.

Three days before that she rode Thunder Set to a win in the Elders Lennox Head Benchmark 65 Handicap (2670m) at Ballina.

"I knew he could stay, so I just had to run 'em off their feet," she said.
