Traffic falls foul of power pole

HOLIDAY traffic was bought to a standstill about lunchtime when a power pole fell onto the road a one of Gold Coast's major tourist strip on Sunday.

One person received a mild electric shock when a power pole fell onto The Esplanade at Burleigh about 11.50am.

Police were forced to close the street between Fourth and Fifth avenues while Energex crews worked to clear the fallen pole.

Paramedics treated the shock victim at the scene for minor injuries.

Police, Surfers Paradise firefighters, Energex and Queensland Ambulance paramedics attended the scene.
