Tragedy on the tracks: Young woman hit by train dies

A WOMAN in her 20s has been killed at a level crossing in Brisbane's east on Friday morning.

Emergency services were notified of the incident at Cannon Hill station on Barrack Rd shortly before 7am.

Queensland Police said initial investigations suggested the woman darted across the tracks to get to the platform.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death, but said they do not believe the woman ran in front of the train intentionally.

Rail commuters were ferried between Murarrie and Morningside in buses before the track was re-opened seven hours later.
