Trains, theatre and the Blues ahead for Tweed’s weekend

HERE'S five fun ways to spend your weekend in Tweed.

1. Get your Shake on

Murwillumbah Theatre Company's first Shakespeare production is the romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Written in the 16th Century, the play portrays the adventures of four young lovers who fall comically in and out of love. Catch it this weekend from 7.30pm on Saturday and 2pm Sunday, with more dates in the following weeks. More info, contact Lesley 02 6672 5404.  

 

2. All aboard the steamers

On Sunday venture down to Tropical Fruit World where the Tweed Miniature Steam Railway Club is hosting a fun day of steam train rides and live displays of their coal-powered replica steam. Funds raised will contribute to the construction of a covered work space and storage area. Enclosed shoes required, costs $10 per person with children under 6 free. Phone, 02 6677 7222. 

 

3. Support the Gulls

Head on down to Piggabeen oval to support the Tweed Heads Seagulls as they blaze along with an impressive winning streak. The Gulls will play Souths Logan on Sunday from 2pm. 4. Enjoy a dark comedy

Tugun Theatre Company's current production is a dark comedy called Arsenic and Old Lace. This production is being held at the Tugun Community Centre and will run until May with 31 a matinee today on Saturday. Bring along some nibbles and drinks and enjoy the cabaret style seating with friends and family. For ticket prices and show times phone Mandy, 07 5522 4740.

5. Catch the Blues

Love your blues music then this free event is for you. Blues on Broadbeach is on this weekend and features artists such as The Time of My Life Band; this band incorporates the talents of Darryl Braithwaite, Joe Camilleri, James Reyne and Ross Wilson.
