Transformers move in on smoothies

A COOLANGATTA smoothie shop owner has had a wall of her shop transformed into an action figure museum by her enthusiastic partner.

Traecy's Smoothie Bar owner Traecy Nasir let partner Russell Fynn store his Transformers collection in the shop display case.

She said the toys on display were only a small part of his collection.

"It was actually my concession to have a little bit of space and it cleared a bit of wardrobe space for me at home," she said.

"If he had his way it'd be the whole length of the wall."

Mr Fynn, who even had the Decepticon badge tattooed on his back, said his hobby was not cheap.

"I've spent over $20,000 but now that $20,000 is worth $40,000."

He said he had rejected probably about 20 offers from people who wanted to buy pieces from the collection.

"They are better than stocks or gold because they are not governed by the world economy. They always keep going up in price."

Russell Fynn started to collect Transformers 12 years ago.
