FOUR treasurers from conservative states including Queensland and New South Wales have set an aggressive tone before heading into their Wednesday meeting with federal Treasurer Wayne Swan.
Just five weeks out from the Federal Budget being handed down, the Heads of Treasuries meeting will be held in Canberra.
Mr Swan and his state counterparts, including freshly minted Queensland Treasurer Tim Nicholls, will discuss the proposed National Disability Insurance Scheme and the allocation of GST funding, among several issues.
NSW Treasurer Mike Baird said while he supported the NDIS proposal, he wanted to ensure the states were not left holding the bill.
"We're not going to tolerate that," Mr Baird.
"We all support the NDIS and we want to understand from the Federal Government what their plans are and we want them to involve the states.
"You can't have a position where you roll out something as important as the NDIS and exclude the states from it.
"We want to participate - we're eager to play a role in this."
