Trio hopes photos are snapped up

THREE local photographers are holding an exhibition this weekend to raise money for the Tweed/Byron Cancer Care Unit.

Last year, the same photographers raised $4000 after a similar exhibition and this weekend hope to double that figure.

The 3Photography exhibition organised by local photographers Trevor Worden, Tristam Evison and Justin Ealand, who have donated their work for sale, was a huge success last year selling 80% of the photos on the opening night.

Mr Ealand said community support for the event was fantastic and he was optimistic that this year's event could double the funds raised in 2010.

"This year, we are framing every print and we've got 60 works included in the exhibition, compared to 40 last year," he said.

Last year the funds went to the Tweed /Byron Network Cancer Care Unit which put it towards a new treatment room at Murwillumbah Hospital which opened in February.

The exhibition is to open on Saturday from 6.30pm-9.30pm and on Sunday from 10.30am-1pm in the Dawes Pavilion at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds.
