Trio of Tweed bubs welcomed to the world on Christmas Day

THREE babies were born at Tweed Hospital on Christmas day.

Matilda Curtis Butler was one of them.

New mother Tahani Curtis, 24, from Bilambil Heights, said they were considering naming their baby Jesus, when it was clear she'd be a Christmas baby.

While they didn't know the gender of the child before, Ms Curtis said the name Matilda had stuck a while ago.

"A while ago we just started calling her Matilda," Ms Curtis said.

"We both loved the name."

Ms Curtis said while she hadn't met the other Christmas mums, it was pretty exciting that two other bubs were born on Christmas day.

Matilda's dad, Jonathan Butler, 27, was also excited to become a first-time dad on Christmas day.

"We're pretty blown away," Mr Butler said.

Matilda Curtis Butler was born just after 8pm yesterday, weighing 3.5kg.

Her parents said there were no complications, with everything going relatively smoothly.
