Truck crashes into Dungay Creek

A SEWAGE truck has fallen into Dungay Creek after a private bridge collapsed underneath it.

The incident occured on a private property on Dungay Creek Road at around 1pm.

The truck driver was transported to Murwillumbah Hospital but his injuries were unknown.

Tweed Shire Council Environmental Health Offices have attended the scene but at this stage it appears only a small amount of liquid waste has been released into the creek.

Council has advised all properties downstream of 361 Dungay Creek Road to refrain from drawing water from or utlising the creek for recreational purposes until further notice.

More information to come as available.
