Truck with horses catches fire

A SMALL truck fire closed one southbound lane of the Pacific Hwy at Cudgera Creek this morning.

About 7.20am, a small fire started in the hydraulic system of a truck carrying six horses.

Bob Wilcox, of the Rural Fire Service, said a passing motorist was able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher after the horses were unloaded from the truck.

The horses were still being rounded up at 8.30am.

Motorists have been warned to be careful when driving through that area as livestock may still be on the road.
