Tugun bikie brawl more like a scuffle, according to police

NRL star-turned bikie Anthony Watts was involved in a brawl at a football game in Tugun yesterday.

Despite media claims it was a "wild bikie brawl" Queensland police said the matter was over quickly.

The incident took place after the Seahawkes' Bycroft Cup match against Currumbin.

Police were called to the car park at the Seahawks football field about 4.50pm. However, the incident was already over.

Sources from within the Tugun Seahawks Leagues Club said reports that Watts started the fracas were incorrect.

"He was involved but he did not start it," the source said.

Watts is currently suspended from the Gold Coast-Tweed Rugby League competition.

Earlier this month, the 26-year-old was arrested after being involved in a bikie brawl at Cooly Rocks On.

Queensland police have charged a 22-year-old Palm Beach man with causing a public nuisance after he made threats toward police during yesterday's incident.

He will appear in Coolangatta Magistrates Court on July 22.
