Tugun plans a bumpa Biggest Cuppa
TUGUN Bowls Club's ladies president, Luchica Leon, says she speaks with no bias in predicting the Tugun crew will provide the biggest morning tea in the district for the Cancer Council's huge fundraising day, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, next Monday.
“We can cram close to 250 people into our Ka-Leena function room, and from all the enquiries I've received, I expect us to be comfortably packed to the rafters,” Mrs Leon said.
The morning tea function will be the second day of Tugun's drive to fill the Cancer Council's coffers. Preceding it on Sunday will be an Open Community Day at the club where the object is to have tonnes of fun.
Both days will be proudly sponsored by Bendigo Community Bank Tugun which will kick-start the fundraising by kicking $1000 into the kitty.
“The object of the two days will be, of course, to maximise our contribution to a wonderful cause and also to provide everyone who comes along with an enjoyable and memorable visit,” Mrs Leon said.
The first innings of the two-day venture commences at 10am and all are invited. For the big 'uns there's barefoot bowls and the chance to browse through several interesting stalls, while the kids will be kept amused with a jumping castle, pony rides and face painting.
It's hungry work having fun, but Tugun has that covered – there's a sausage sizzle and the club's fine restaurant, Ka-Leenas, will be offering a-la-carte and tapas meals.
At Monday's Biggest Morning Tea, there is a $5 entry for men and women and children are also welcome.
“The morning tea, with copious cups of tea and delicious cakes, is included in the entry fee,” Mrs Leon said.
