TV star to host Salt fashion show

KINGSCLIFF'S Saltbar will be the place to be for lovers of fashion when former Home and Away star Tessa James hosts a second edition of Passion for Fashion, a fundraising event in support of the Casuarina Beach Bums.

Salt Village marketing spokesperson Katrina Dudley said having Tessa onboard for the event was "just amazing."

"We are grateful and know that with her celebrity status the event will be a huge success.

"The support from the local community last year was fantastic, the ladies had a great night out with gorgeous fashion.

"This year the event is not just about the ladies, we are also showcasing men's fashion including Spanish Caravan's unique vintage designs.

"Of course, we will have ladies fashions so we are encouraging all ladies who came last year to bring their partners again this year and make sure to get you tickets early.

"They are on sale now."

Ms Dudley said there was something for everyone with boutiques offering the latest fashions for sale and 10% of all purchases donated to the Casuarina Beach Bums.

The "bums" are a group of locals aiming to raise money for cancer research through the Rio Tinto Ride to Conquer Cancer which benefits the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and takes cyclists into the Queensland countryside to ride 200km in two days.

The group aimed to raise $15,000 last year, however, exceeded expectations and collected more than $20,000 for cancer research.

Ms James is best known for her part as Nicole Franklin in Home and Away and recently moved to the area following her wedding to Gold Coast Titans and Queensland State of Origin star Nate Myles.

The fundraiser will be held at Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro in Salt Village, Kingscliff on Friday, July 27, at 8pm and will feature a Paris Fashion Show inspired runway show exhibiting collections from Spanish Caravan, Sunburn Kingscliff, Anna and Ruth, Dot Wears a Dress and Craveyard.

Tickets are available from Saltbar for $65.
