Tvk boys fight to stay in league

LOOKING to climb the ladder and avoid relegation from the Gold Coast Premier League, the Tweed Valley Kings host Burleigh Heads at Fraser Drive, Tweed Heads, from 3pm tomorrow.

In the Gold Coast first division, Murwillumbah travels to United Eagles, Griffith Uni hosts Tugun and Tweed Heads will be looking to rebound from a 2-1 loss to Merrimac when they travel to Kingscliff for their clash at 3pm tomorrow.

Against Merrimac, Tweed was short on numbers and had to contend with players sent off in their loss.

“The players who did turn up gave 110 percent, especially wide mid-fielder Richard Reid and captain John Mortimer,” coach Roger Hoy said.

“We only had nine fresh players for A-grade, which made it hard, but I was proud of the effort put in by the players.

“Now we have to regroup for Kingscliff.”
