Tweed athlete quietly racks up accolades

TWEED River High School athlete Jacquie Soden has been quietly racking up accolades, winning the Queensland All-Schools Cross Country Championships last week.

The 17-year-old runner defeated two national schoolgirl representatives to capture the under-17 title at Kedron with a time of 14 minutes and 51 seconds, 25 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.

Soden also walked away with first place at the Runaway Bay 5km Corporate Challenge in March.

Challenges on the horizon for Soden will include the zone and regional cross country races, will hopefully pave the way to an appearance at state level competition on July 19.
