Tweed brothel now 24-7

TWEED Shire Council has voted (4-2) to approve the extended operating hours of a Tweed brothel to 24-hours-a-day seven days a week for a trial period of one year.

Police supported the extension in operating hours of the Enterprise Ave establishment, despite some community objections.

The brothel was in 2010 refused by the council, a decision that was later over-turned by the NSW Land and Environment Court, but its hours were restricted to 6pm to 6am seven days a week.

Crs Warren Polglase and Carolyn Byrne voted against the operating extension while Gary Bagnall was absent for the vote.

It is one of five legal brothels operating in the shire.
