Tweed City cooking up new ideas
THINGS will be really cooking at Tweed City Shopping Centre during the next few weeks.
The centre is getting out the pots and pans and pumping up the heat on the cooktops and presenting free cooking demonstrations.
According to Tweed City marketing manager Megan Connellan, the weekly displays will be a chance to learn new, healthy and tasty recipes using fresh produce.
“It is all part of our Fresh Food For You promotion,” she said.
“We will present the free demonstrations from 10.30am to 1.30pm every Friday during February, alternating between the areas near Woolworths and Coles.”
The demonstrations will be carried out by Food Circus, a Queensland business set up in 1992 by Faye Tabet to provide food and events promotions for the Queensland market.
Now based on the Gold Coast, Food Circus started with two employees servicing the Brisbane area, and now has a team of more than 40 covering Cairns to Melbourne.
While Food Circus is now a multi-skilled business, it was originally designed to service shopping centres and promote local retailers – which is exactly what it will be doing at Tweed City.
Ms Connellan said the demonstrators would produce a series of “easy- to-make recipes” highlighting fresh produce from Tweed City outlets.
“There should be something for everyone across the board,” she said.
“We ran a similar program last year but without the cooking demonstration.”
