Tweed clubs to dominate junior grand final day
TWEED'S young athletes will be chasing premierships, when Tweed Byron Group 18 Junior Rugby League's (JRL) 2016 season culminates in a grand final day at Piggabeen Sports Complex this Saturday.
Tweed clubs Murwillumbah, Cudgen, Tweed Heads, South Tweed and Bilambil have dominated the competition's under-10s to under-16s age groups and will fight for six of the seven premierships on offer.
Byron-Lennox will be the only non-Tweed club to feature in the finals and will face Bilambil in the under-12s' decider.
Group 18 JRL publicity officer Anna Bourne said the 2016 had been strong and each grand final decider should prove to be tight based on each of the clubs' form across the finals, which began on August 20.
"All teams have played outstandingly over the 16 rounds to get this far and there were some narrow losses in the finals series,” Bourne said.
"It will be a fantastic day of football.”
The day kicks-off with the under-10s clash at 9am and cost of entry is $3 per adult.
