Tweed detective charged with lying to NSW police in court

CHARGES against a disgraced Tweed detective accused of lying to the NSW police watchdog were back before a Sydney court this week.

Shane Charles Diehm, the former senior officer who tested positive to cocaine following a 2011 party, is charged with four counts of providing false or misleading information to the Police Integrity Commission.

He and colleague Matthew Dennis were arrested as part of Operation Ischia, an ongoing investigation into allegations of drug use, drug supply and corruption within NSW and Queensland police ranks.

Both will front court again on July 30.
