Tweed farmers leave the paddock for field day
TWEED farmers are being invited to attend the Primex industry exhibition, the largest coastal field day along the eastern seaboard.
Primex runs from June 20 to 22 at Casino and organisers are calling out for Tweed farmers to come along to the 29th annual event, which is expected to attract over 30,000 attendees.
"We have always had considerable interest north to the border, the Tweed region and into south-east Queensland,'' Primex's director Bruce Wright said.
"Since last year's Primex we have undertaken a strategic review, and have implemented big changes as a result.
"I believe with what we have to offer now that interest will increase greatly."
Mr Wright said he was confident the event would offer a host of opportunities for local producers.
"We have worked overtime to get feedback from horticultural groups, NSW Farmers, Meat and Livestock Australia, Subtropical Dairy, Australian Macadamia Society and many more industry and grower associations," he said
"From this we have received a commitment from more than 5000 frontline members of those groups who will be at Primex.
"That means the people at the heart of those industries, the people who are in the market to buy tractors, trucks, motor vehicles and much more, will be there."
Mr Wright said Primex reflected Australia's most diverse primary production region of the NSW North Coast with its coverage.
"We certainly ride the wave of challenges that all primary producers have to face throughout the region,'' he said.
"The GFC and in more recent times, flooding and primary industry markets also challenge us as the organizers, but Primex remains as resilient and progressive as the farmers we service and the extensive number of exhibitors and visitors who support and attend the event every year."
